Fog 17 Amazons 5

Scheduling the kickoff for 1pm was one of the dumbest ideas I have been a party to in a long time.  Playing rugby at the heat of a Sacramento summer day is pretty miserable.  It was about 95 degrees at kickoff.  As the title indicates, we lost our game to a team we could have beaten.  Chalk it up to a lack of practicing together and being more out of shape that we thought we were.  They scored all of their points in the second half, one off an intercepted pass, which was pretty deflating.  Shit happens.

Nobody really got hurt, though the school psychologist on our team had a nice cleat mark on her forehead.  I look forward to stories about kids asking about it at practice.  The reffing left a lot to be desired, especially on high tackles and playing the ball on the ground.  It was frustrating to say the least.

Next weekend we go to Reno.  After that, we head to the Bay to be clobbered by Berkeley (the #2 team in the nation).
