I am subscribed to almost all of the Democratic contenders email lists, mostly to see what they are up to. I am not officially supporting any of them, nor have I donated. Today alone Obama has asked me for money in an html message that looks like plain text (somebody has been reading Exley). Edwards asked me for money for a 50 state strategy, which seemed better fit for a general election email, rather than the primary. Dodd (another Exley follower) took a bold stand in Congress today by putting a hold on the FISA bill over immunity for the phone companies and wrote us a personal note telling us what he had done. They did not even wait to get the landing page up on the website to deploy the message. That’s ballsy.
The most curious message of the day (other than Edward’s) was the one from Hillary, titled “I’m coming to Fresno”. Why the heck am I invited to her rally? That’s almost 170 miles away from me. I could see something like San Francisco (less than 100), but to send it to folks at such a large zip code radius is puzzling. Needless to say, I will not be driving 170 miles down 99 for a 9 AM rally with Hillary on a Monday morning.
Side note: This may be my favorite campaign website ever, if only for the fact that the dude features a quote from his mom on the front page.
