This is a really remarkable story about one Marine and a photographer that took his picture. Their lives have become intertwined as both were thrust into the spotlight due to the overwhelming attention paid to the photo, which was nominated for the Pulitzer prize. There are no simple conclusions that can be drawn. This is no neat bow tied end to the story.
The Marine is forever changed by his service and continues to struggle from PTSD. While it does not sound like he is currently suicidal, that looms as a persistent issue. I highly recommend reading the story and watching all three videos. They are a powerful reminder of the terrible cost that this war has brought upon our Veterans. This is not about one day of thanking people for their service, it is an ongoing need for support and assistance. For if we fail, they will suffer and we will lose many more of our proud warriors years after their term of service ends.
